An unplanned expat blogger, documenting life for Timber Glow Rest

Hello, I am Claire
I am a project manager. a parent. an expat based in Paris, France.
A few years back I moved here with my family, and what began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to France wasn’t in our long-range plan. As with many international moves, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The opening months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, new expectations. Daily tasks seemed more complex than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, ambiguity, and plenty of hands-on learning. Yet over time, routines began to take shape. We found spots that fit us, connected with other families, and started creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built Timber Glow Rest
Most online resources were either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was absent was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical advice grounded in real life in France.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Hands-on lessons from life in France
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated whenever there is a genuine change
This site ISN'T:
- Not an authority on tourism resources
- Not a paid-review platform
- Not just another generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in France goes on, and so does the learning process. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep recording what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Paris or anywhere in France, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Claire
